I’d meant to write an entry for the November Linkup but as usual, it seemed that I had overestimated my time and energy levels! Hopefully I get to write something for the December Writing Prompts as it falls under my favourite season. Christmas always gives me the warm, fuzzy vibes of childhood.
I also try to use new words for every linkup, and am surprised that I haven’t run out of relevant verbs (and the occasional adjective) yet! Take a look at the December writing prompts; I hope they help with rounding up your thoughts for the year. As well as with planning or choosing how you’d like to spend the holiday season, whilst taking care of your well-being simultaneously. What The 2022 Writing Prompts are About & How to Participate
The linkups are a monthly get together for anyone with a chronic illness, mental disorder or disability. An opportunity to share, to listen, and to learn from one another through shared writing prompts. I also think it’s a great way to provide insight into life with chronic pain, from many different points of view.
All you have to do is write using at least three of the writing prompts listed below, and publish it on your blog, or to a free writing platform like Medium. Then click on the blue ‘Add Link’ button to add your blog post to this page. Voilà, you’re now part of the linkup party!
2022 December Writing Prompts
- Only one link submission per website.
- Do comment on at least two other blog posts in this linkup if you participate. Helping to spread the word on your social media is always appreciated, but not required.
- Linkups start on the first of every month. There will be five different writing prompts. It will close at the end of each month before midnight. All timings listed are in Singapore time (+8 GMT).
- Pick at least three of the writing prompts to write about. Five is best, of course! 😉 You can write about your latest experiences with chronic illness, or even turn it into an evergreen blog post.
- Insert a link to this post when you submit your blog entry for auto verification.
- Failure to follow these rules might get you blacklisted from future linkups. Let’s keep it fair for all 🙂
Get the 2022 December Writing Prompts!
What are your thoughts as the year draws to a finalé? Do you have any parting thoughts, or perhaps you’d like to mindfully close it on a different note. You could be closing a chapter of your life and moving towards new beginnings. Or you could be closing your business for the holidays, finishing up on a job, or shutting down a social media account. It can be literal too, such as closing a door and however you best interpret the writing prompt!
It’s the festive season, so it’s just right to treat ourselves to something nice, and to treat ourselves right, don’t you agree?! It doesn’t have to be anything fanciful or expensive, either. It could be as simple as treating yourself to a day off, a nice cup of tea, a catch up with loved ones and such. You could also be treating others to a nice drink or meal. Or it could be to treat someone kindly, or even in a bad way, for whatever reason. I’m all for bringing out the tasty Christmas treats and presents, too!
With so much going on during such a merry time, it can quickly get fatiguing for those with chronic illness and disabilities. How will you ration your energy and time so that you’re not overloaded and overwhelmed? A pain flare can be worth it sometimes, but not always. You could also be rationing portions of food for dietary or monetary reasons, or rationing the amount of treats you consume *ahem*.
How will you be reminding yourself to slot in time for self-care and rest time, as someone who’s chronically ill and/or disabled? You could also be reminding your family to show up for events, or to purchase or do something. Perhaps you’re trying to remind yourself to be grateful, or perhaps you need some help reminding yourself to complete certain tasks, what with the brain fog and busyness of it all. Perhaps the season reminds you of pleasant or unpleasant memories, and you’d like to share or reflect upon that.
How will you embrace the festive season with loved ones or in general? You could be embracing a lover, a family member or a furry friend. You could also be embracing and accepting certain circumstances in life, and choosing to go with the flow.
